Artwork & credits

Scenes are original vector artwork drawn for Birdyard; bird profiles use openly licensed photographs.

Illustrations

Every scene and bird portrait on this site is an original SVG illustration made for Birdyard. They are not stock photographs and are not copied from other sites. The palette, shapes and framing are kept consistent so the artwork reads as one hand rather than a collage.

Bird portraits are stylised, not field-guide accurate: they show a species' characteristic shape and colouring so you can recognise it, not every feather. Use a regional field guide or a recording app for identification you intend to rely on.

Photographs

Species photos are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under the licences stated. Some are cropped or resized for the web; each entry names the photographer, the licence and the original file page so the attribution can be checked. No Macaulay Library or other all-rights-reserved images are used.

Profile galleries

Each species profile has a small photo gallery. Every image is openly licensed, resized for the web, and credited below.

Month calendar photographs

Each month card on the home page uses a seasonal photograph, also from Wikimedia Commons. Resized for the web; full attribution below.

Editorial feature photograph

The "Start here" image on the home page is an editorial placement, not a species profile.

Text and sources

Notes cite their sources at the foot of each article. We link to primary and authoritative bodies — such as Project FeederWatch, the National Audubon Society and the National Wildlife Federation — rather than to other content sites.
